THE EARTH NOT A GLOBE, BUT POSITIVELY A PLANE

The Earth and Ocean not a Globe; but a circular-lane, according to the two great books of God, Revelation and Nature.

circular-sailing  According to the book of Revelation, the word “world” is used more than 260 times in the Bible, and the word “earth” – 350 times. The words “round” or ‘‘globe” or “sphere” are never once applied to it. Not a single expression is used from the beginning of the inspired book to the end, suggestive of the idea that the earth is a planet, or, suggesting that the earth is anything else than a stationary plane.

1 Passages speaking of the heavens above as “ stretched out,” and the earth spread forth and stretched out upon the waters, so that the line of the heavens is parallel with that of the earth. Isaiah 42: 5; Psalm 136: 6. “ To Him that stretched out the earth above the waters.”—Psalm 24: 2. “ He hath founded the earth upon the seas and established it upon the floods.” Genesis 1:10, informs us that the waters were gathered together unto one place, and called seas, and upon those seas the earth was founded, consequently the waters are beneath and around the earth. The waters sustain the earth, sustain the earth as a whole.—2nd Peter 3 :5. “ For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing or consisting out of the water and in the water.” R. Y. reads; “ For this they wilfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth compacted out of water and amidst (or through) water, by the word of God.’’ Compacted—held together—leagued with— united. Now look! The earth is one—the continents appear to us who are on the surface as being a great distance apart, yet these continents are joined together; they are connected in the water and together they constitute one earth. These connections deep down in the water of continent with continent, are themselves sustained by the waters underneath. “ The waters under the earth.” Those waters under the earth, sustain the earth as a whole; sustain the earth in its entirety.”

The earth compacted out of water and amidst water by the word of God.” The dry land above, or out of the water compacted, united with, the earth in the water and that again compacted, united with, the other continents amidst or through water. The continent of America is compacted, united with the continents of Europe and Asia, amidst or through the water of the Atlantic. The continent of Africa, though connected with Asia by the Isthmus of Suez, yet is compacted, united with Asia and Europe amidst or through the water of the Mediterranean Sea, Ked Sea, and probably Arabian Sea. Australia compacted, united with Asia amidst or through the water of the Indian Ocean.

As the heavens are spread out above, and the earth stretched out upon the waters, so the line of the heavens is parallel with that of the earth. That is the reason why the heavens seem to close or touch the earth at the horizon. They are parallel. Parallel lines appear to converge in the distance. In a long tunnel, the floor appears to rise to a level with the eye at the entrance, and the roof to come down to a level with the eye, they are parallel; so with the earth and sky, they are parallel. The distant horizon appears on a level with the eye, and the sky in the distance seems to descend to a level with the eye. This has been particularly remarked by balloonists. At their greatest elevation, the horizon seemed to be on a level with the eye, and the sky in the distance seemed to close with the horizon. This is according to the law of perspective, parallel lines appear to converge. In Isaiah 40: 22, we read : “ I t is He that sitteh upon (or over) the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants are as grasshoppers.” It is not said here “ circle of a globe,” no, but “ circle of the earth.” He sitteth over the arctic circle and beholdeth to the ends of the earth. The earth being stretched out upon the waters, and therefore in its general configuration it is a plane, it is flat; the centre ot the earth is north, the circumference is south. The ends of tbe earth, the extremities of the earth are out towards the southern circumference. Cape Horn is an end, New Zealand is an end, Tasmania and Cape ot Good Hope are ends. The great God sitteth over the circle of the earth—over the north centre and seeth to the ends of the earth. Isa, 45: 22. “ Look unto me and be ye saved all the ends of the earth.” We could not live on a globe—a globe revolving on its axis and shooting away through space in its orb it round the sun. It would be impossible to live upon it, constituted as we are. In Isa. 4 5 :1 8 ; “ Thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and made it; He hath established it. He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited.” He says: “ I am the Lord and there is none else.” A revolving globe— a planet earth would not be habitable. A planet earth, such as the modern astronomers speak of, is a thing of the imagination; it does not exist in nature, it is a vain thing; it is not the habitable earth. What a cutting rebuke is here in these few words in Isaiah to the modern astronomers, the followers of Copernicus and Sir Isaac Newton! What a contrast to their theory. God formed the earth and made it ; it became a reality; He established it ; He created it not in vain ; He Yormed it to be inhabited. Can you apply these words to the planet earth of Copernicus and Sir Isaac Newton? “ Formed the earth and made it, established it.” Is it so with the planet earth ? No. It is not formed, not made, not established; it has no real, material existence. I t is just a thing of the imagination, supposition, hypothesis. God created the earth not in vain. He formed it to be inhabited.

God said, let the dry land appear, the dry land did appear. Let the waters be gathered together unto one place, and the waters flowed into the place appointed tor them, beneath and around the earth. Here we are on this earth—living, moving, working, trading, buying and selling. This earth is a real earthy it is inhabited as God meant it to be, and some of our fellow beings go down to the sea in ships and see the wonders of God on the great waters. This earth is a real, material earth, and this material earth, really, unmistakably and without doubt, is compacted out of the water and amidst the water. But the planet earth of Copernicus and Sir Isaac Newton is not real— it has no material existence, it is fictitious and visionary.

2 There are also passages showing that the waters surrounding the earth have their bounds on the great southern circumference. Job 26: 10, “He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.” In Margin, “ until the 6nd of light with darkness.” In the E. V. it is “ He hath described a boundary on the face of the waters, unto the confines of light and darkness.” Job 38: 8 ,9 ,1 0 , “ Who shut up the sea with doors when it brake forth.” 9— “ When I made the cloud, the garment thereof and thick darkness a swaddling band for it.” 10th and 11th, “ And prescribed

for it my decree (or boundary) and set bars and doors, and said, hitherto shalt thou come, but no farther, and here shall thy proud waves be stayed.” And far out there on the southern circumference, are solid and impassable ramparts of ice, barriers—cliffs of ice—forbidding the further progress of

daring navigators. It was so with Captain Wilks and Jas. 0. Ross. Well, you ask ; Do the Scriptures mention these solid walls and barriers of ice out there on the southern circumference? Yes, they do. Job 38: 30; “ The face of the deep is frozen.” The daring navigators on the southern seas, who have

told us of the solid walls of ice—the barriers and cliffs of ice— disclose to us the meaning, the sublime meaning of such passages as Job 38:30; Ps. 33:7.

The Wings of the Earth

babylonian map  The expression “wings of the earth” which occurs in the Bible (usually translated “ends” as in Job 38.13) is sometimes appealed to as proof that the earth is a sphere and flying, as it were, around the Sun.

Rotherham, in the Emphasized Bible, says that the reference to “wings” is “simply poetic” language for “ends of the earth” – p. 525. But the expression could be derived from some ancient concept of the world, certainly not in accord with modern theories. For example, this “Babylonian map of the world about the sixth century B.C. Taken from a tablet in the British Museum. It portrays the earth as a circular disc, with “the seas surrounding the world indicated by the large circles…the two broken vertical lines represent the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.”

  What makes the map so interesting is that it depicts wings extending from the rim of the world: the biblical “wings of the earth?” These symbolic wings represent the fact of the earth floating on the waters, so this piece of evidence, contemporary to the days of the Bible, shows us what, if anything, the expression “wings of the earth” refers to: not a sphere flying through the sky or space, buut a flat disc floating on the surface of the primordial waters – of the deep or ocean (Gen. 1.9-10)

The Sun is a Light – 32 Miles Across

Dr Robertson, one of our British Members, made the discovery and conducted this experiment to prove from a Practical Common Sense Demonstrated and Demonstrable experiment the Sun is 32 miles across. In the Fable Physics, also called ‘science,’ you discard ‘mere facts’ and just say anything…’truth’ is whatever you want it to be; 2 plus 2 can be 7 or nothing, so they can say the sun is one million times larger than earth or say 10 billion times, makes no difference, as NOT A WORD of modern astronomy is true!

It is DEMONSTRATED by the sun’s rays it is 32 miles across. Also, the NAUTICAL ALMANAC bears out the FACT the sun is very small compared to earth but very large compared with the tiny planets.

sun set at sea  In books on astronomy we are gravely told that the sun is more than a million times larger than the sea-earth globe. The writers who make these extravagant assertions do not attempt to give us any good practical evidence in proof thereof. Their authoritative assertions are supposed to be sufficient, in spite of good authorities against them, and the oppositions of “science” against “science.”

Let an observer stand by night directly under a lamppost; the light above him will cast no side shadow. If he moves northwards his shadow will fall towards the north; and if he goes south his shadow will fall southwards. If the light were extended by a number of feet above his head, say for ten feet, then on the observer moving that distance underneath he would still see no shadow. That is, the vertical rays of light would cast no shadow for a distance equal to its own extent. Now apply this reasoning to the shadows of a vertical objects cast by the sun’s rays.

In northern latitudes the shadows fall towards the north; and in the southern, towards the south. The declination of the sun varies from the tropic of Cancer, 23.5 degrees N., to an equal declination south of the equator, the tropic of Capricorn. Between these extremes the sun is always at noon, directly overhead in places with the altitudes equal to his declination. The variation in which is the cause of the varying seasons. In these places on land, or at sea, the sun casts no side shadow at noon; and it has been found that this phenomenon extends for 32 miles. So that the column of the sun’s vertical rays is 32 miles across in every direction – a distance equal to the length of the solar diameter! And, whether we take the surface of the sea as curved or horizontal, there would make little difference, as may be seen in the diagram above.

Diagrams and arguments demonstrate that the diameter of the sun is only 32 miles across. Thus the sun is a small body as compared with the size of the earth; yet as compared with the planets it is a giant, and, as the Psalmist says, “a giant rejoicing to rn his race!” (Psa. 19.5)

The Nautical Almanac bears out the truth of the sun’s comparatively small size: it gives the sun’s semi-diameter as 16 minutes of a degree. One degree of latitude is equal to 60 miles: and as there are 60 “minutes” to a degree, twice 16 minutes” must be equal to 32 miles. The sun’s diameter by no less an authority than that of the navigator’s chief almanac!

The Truman Show – Star Falling

truman show spotlight  If you notice, there is a name on this spotlight called, Sirius Canis Major. Canis Major is a star constellation with Sirius being the brightest star. It’s only 8.5 light years away. Could this video be hidding a truth from the public but with clues left in? Those in power really know what is going on, that is why they are in power; are members of secret societies, etc. Could it be that those in the military with those in NASA passed on some clues to the bosses in Hollywood (their brothers in power) to say, “Hey, with this info you can make a good film; just don’t tell them too much. Make is similar but not the real thing.”

Could the “firmament” that surrounds the earth, as described in the Bible with verses like Gen. 1:6:

The most striking feature of the Old Testament world is the “firmament,” a solid dome which separates “the waters from the waters” (Gen. 1:6). The Hebrew word translated in the Latin Vulgate as firmamentum is raqia’ whose verb form means “to spread, stamp or beat out.”

In short, this “firmament” sounds like something that is made, a protection around the earth. Now, read the following, Psalm 96:10: “He has fixed the earth firm, immovable …” Psalm 104:5: “Thou didst fix the earth on its foundation so that it never can be shaken.”

What I understand from this is, that the earth does not revovle. But we know the sun, moon and stars move. So, if the earth is not moving, the other heavenly bodies are moving – it’s either one or the other.

So, is the earth in some kind of huge dome? Are the stars, or what we think about stars in this firmament; and they are moving around the central point of this dome? We know that the star Polaris, also called the North Star, does not move. Since this is the case, how can the earth be speeding through space at 67,000mph (as it goes around the Sun). IF that was the case, we can’t have a stationary star.

So, how an the stars be moving? It would be something like taking a black umbrella; under it is the earth, and there are little holes in the umbrella where the lights are shining through. Or think of little dots of lights (of different shades of color). Then, gently turn the umbrella. Is it just possible that we are seeing this in the night sky? Are we, like Truman, being looked down from above; being judge by our behavior; while the whole earth is in a dome? Could this be it?

Sounds crazy, I know. But let me get a little crazier…

Could there be another clue in this film?

Truman-spotlight-7  In The Truman Show, we see that Truman sails on the sea. Normally he would have turned back because he faces difficulties, such as the bad weather, perhaps lack of fresh water and food. The produces of this “show” hopes that it will turn him back. In fact, it would turn most people back.

Now, think of this real-life parrell in today’s world. What happens when you sail south of Agentina and you are heading towards the Antarctica? The weather is very bad, the cold is bitting, the sea pushes you up and slams you down; again and again you are pounded. Most people would turn back. But if you happen to have clear days, you reach the Antarctica but what do you see? You see a huge ice wall – from 100 – 200 feet high. This, you’ll find all the way around the continent except for a small area. Now, wouldn’t that discourage anyone. Once on land, you have the bitter cold and wind to contend with. If that doesn’t stop you, the US military or some other nation’s military will use leathel force to stop you. This is a fact, but why? For some environmental reason? Hardly. There is something that that they don’t want you to see; something that Turman finally did see – the dome or firament that kept him in. Do you think that perhaps the world military leaders and others don’t want you to know the truth? The truth that we are being watched above by beings of Love as we go about our daily lives?

This should give you something to think about.

If the Earth were going around the Sun, then the speed of the satellite would have to adjust due to the different gravitational pull of the Earth. When the satellite is behind the Earth it would have to “chase” the Earth. When in front of Earth, the Earth would chase the satellite. Since the Earth is supposedly going around the Sun with the speed of 107,534 km/hr, the speed of the satellite would have to DRASTICALLY change to account for the change of the gravity pull.

If the universe revolves around the Earth, Earth’s gravitational pull on the satellite would be the same regardless of its position on the orbit. Furthermore, the Sun and Moon’s gravities acting on Earth would balance. The Sun is bigger but farther. The Moon is smaller but closer.

1. The Earth doesn’t have centrifugal force. Gravity is the same all over the Earth because the Earth doesn’t move. If it did, the centrifugal force would make objects weigh TWICE less on Equator than for example in Vancouver, Canada.

2. Doing the same experiment with a SOUND WAVE fortunately can check this. Doppler’s effect would apply.

3. Michelson-Morley experiment doesn’t indicate that the light travels with the same speed independent of Earth’s motion. It indicates that the Earth is stationary.

4. Microwave radiation is 2.7 all over the Earth because the Earth doesn’t move.

5. Weight of objects would be affected depending on which side of the Earth they would be. The “density distribution” theory wouldn’t help, because it would have to change non-stop as the Earth rotates. If the weight of objects is not changing with the location on Earth, then the centrifugal force couldn’t possibly make the Earth bulge at the equator. That proves Newton wrong.

6. The Earth doesn’t have its “density” distributed so exactly as to ideally match the centrifugal force. Such argument is self-serving, arbitrary and logically invalid because there is no evidence to measure it and therefore to support it.

( Note Earth’s “density” for which there is no evidence other than that it “has to be this way” ).

7. The shapes of “constellations” don’t change over thousands of years.

8. Earth is the only planet with millions of life forms. The Bible mentions only life on Earth.

9. Only humans are capable of having a “point of view”, therefore it’s OUR point of view that matters as CENTRAL.

10. Copernicus didn’t provide evidence to support his theory.

11. Contrary to Copernicus, it’s not mathematically possible to “calculate” if the Earth is revolving around the Sun.

12. Newton’s thought experiment with a bucket of water, indicates that the Earth is not revolving. ( The water should sway if the Earth was revolving ). That’s a classic example of lack of centrifugal force of supposedly rotating Earth.

Now we know that the Earth is not flattened on the top and bottom. If that was true, objects would weigh differently.

13. On time-delayed pictures of stars, the Polaris star almost doesn’t move. The only way it can work is if both the Earth and Polaris don’t move. The Earth is therefore the centre of the universe and Polaris is its end.

14. The circular movement of stars on time-delayed pictures cannot be created by Earth’s rotation. If the Earth revolved the paths of stars would be horizontal not circular.

15. Satellites go around the Earth because the space around revolves, thus acting on satellites. You can even put a can of Coca Cola and make it a satellite.

16. The constellations don’t change, year after year.

17. Heavenly bodies don’t collapse together, because their attraction is perfectly balanced by equal centrifugal force resulting from revolving around the Earth.

18. The universe is found to expand AWAY from the Earth with EQUAL speed, that means that the Universe STARTED from the Earth.

19. God started to create the Universe from the Earth, why would a Perfect Being put it later somewhere else? Wouldn’t he put it where it was supposed to be right away? He is perfect so why would He NOT start from the CENTER, as the center is perfectly balanced and therefore requires less effort to start there. By the way, did I mention that the Bible says that God created the sphere of the Earth and hang it on nothing? That was when no human could imagine the Earth hanging on nothing.

The Bible also says that the Earth is MOTIONLESS. Since rotation is “motion” and there is no motion, hence the Earth doesn’t rotate.

However, what we see is this. ( Pic.5 )

Polaris Effect: On several time-delayed pictures there are shown circulating stars. Supposedly, because of the Earth’s movement around its own axis. However, their circulation is in the wrong direction…

If the Earth is moving around, then the stars should “move” horizontally, with slight bent upwards on northern hemisphere and a slight bent downwards on southern hemisphere. That’s because the Earth is a sphere. The stars should appear to move in the opposite direction to Earth’s movement.

In fact, the stars are moving in a circle, around the star Polaris. Hence, “Polaris Effect”. The stars on the outside of Polaris move faster. It is because the distance they travelled is bigger. They also move in unison, which proves that they are somehow connected.

To make it even more puzzling, the time interval of the film exposure does not match the part of the circle that the star would travel in that part of day. I mean if the time exposure is 4 hours, then if 24 hours is full circle then 4 hours should be one sixth of the full circle. However, it’s only about 1/12. The direction of stars’ rotation seems to be the same as Earth’s… If Earth is turning from left to right, then the stars should appear to turn from right to left! If the stars move from left to right, then Earth may be stationary. The Polaris star is always stationary. The only way a point can remain stationary, is when both the observer and the point are stationary, or both move in unison. Since the other stars move in unison relative to the Earth, then both Polaris and Earth must be motionless!

Ever since Victorian astronomers pointed their telescopes towards Mars and wrongly believed they had discovered canals, mankind has been obsessed by the red planet.

Now these astonishing new images – captured by a European spacecraft in orbit around Mars – are helping to fuel that fascination.

They show in astonishing detail a network of giant valleys, vast plains and towering waterfalls carved into the surface of our neighbouring planet, millions of miles away.

And while Mars today appears lifeless and parched, they are a reminder of how its surface was shaped by fast flowing streams, rivers and oceans.

The pictures were captured by the European Space Agency’s Mars Express Probe – a spacecraft the size of a large fridge-freezer that has been circling Mars since Christmas 2003.

Mars Express infamously gave Britain’s ill-fated Beagle 2 probe a lift to Mars. While that mission ended in disaster, the Mars Express has been a fantastic success.

Over the last five years its stereo, high resolution camera has taken thousands of images of the surface, revealing the planet’s awe inspiring beauty in unprecedented detail.

The latest images show the Echus Chasma, a vast valley just north of Mars equator around 62 miles long and six miles wide. The feature is cut into a high plateau and its steep-sided cliffs – some 12,000 feet high – bear a striking resemblance to the canyons of North America.

Thunderous waterfalls may have once plunged over these cliffs, from the high Lunea Planum plateau that surrounds the Echus Chasma, on to the valley floor below.

Some of the images show a five mile wide impact crater formed when asteroids – lumps of floating rock in space – smashed into Mars. Others show a 15 mile long dyke formed when molten rock, evidence of Mars’s volcanic past.

At the edges of the main valley lie smaller light-coloured tributary valleys or “sapping canyons” – around six miles long and 1800 feet deep.

The Echus Chasma – described by Nasa as one of the largest water sources on the planet – is connected to a much bigger valley system called the Kasei Valles which extends thousands of miles to the north.

Both valleys are impressive – but are dwarfed by an even larger canyon which lies to the south. The Valles Marineris is four miles deep in places, around 120 miles wide and 2,500 miles long.

The images were created by combining pictures taken from different orbits. The images can be viewed from different angles in three dimensions

Mars Express launched in June 2003. The craft is a cube around 5ft by 6ft by 5ft with two 60ft long radar antennae. It is photographing the entire surface of Mars in high resolution, producing a detailed colour map of the minerals on the surface, mapping the atmosphere and probing beneath the surface using radar.

Interest in Mars is at an all time high. Nasa and ESA have announced plans to bring back rocks and soil samples from Mars, while Nasa has three probes on the planet – two rovers and its Phoenix polar lander, which arrived in May.

The Phoenix has scraped ice from beneath the surface of Mars and is analysing samples in its laboratory to see if the planet has the right chemicals needed for life.

In 2013, ESA is planning to launch ExoMars – a robotic rover than will explore the planet’s surface. If successful, it will be Europe’s first mission to the Martian surface.

Scientists unveiled plans on Monday to bring back rocks from the Red Planet as a preliminary step to putting a man on Mars.

Professor Monica Grady, at the Open University, co-chaired the expert panel that wrote the mission proposal.

She said it was a vital next step before considering a crewed mission.

‘If you can’t bring a rock back you are not going to be able to bring people back,’ she said.

No Satellites in the Sky

Satellite-dish-1  There are no satellites in the sky. I know this is hard to believe but just consider the following.

Point 1: They say we can see satellites in the sky with the naked eye. Now, they are anywhere from 100 miles up to hundreds of miles up. We are told that they are the size of a school bus. With that in mind, how far away can you see a school bus as it does down a straight road? Not far, as in a couple of minutes it’s out of sight. So, how can you see something that is 250 miles up? Even with the light reflecting off of it by the Sun, that light would be so small – you’d wouldn’t see that either.

Point 2: Did you ever notice that you can’t get mobile phone signals in the woods or in many valleys. Why should that be when satellites would beam it down to you from above. This is because the signal goes from one tower to another.

Point 3: Why are satellite dishes pointing along the horizon? Why aren’t they vertical? IF there were communication satellites, many of them would be over head and all satellite dishes would be closer to 90 degrees up but they are not. Go out and look at homes that have satellite dishes and notice the angle they are pointing. They are pointing more level to the ground because they are picking up relay signals that are also on the ground. This is how ALL mobile phones operate.

Point 4: With the proliferation of the mobile phones, especially in the past 15 years, you also see a proliferation of cell phone towers. Look at the tops of higher buildings in your town; perhaps your apartment building has one. The reason for all these microwave towers are, in part, to relay all the phone signals. This should not be necessary when one satellite could cover one country or a good part of it. Satellites would be a lot cheaper and more effective than putting up thousands of relay towers that you see.

When people get lost, it is not satellite information that is used by rescue workers, it’s from the nearest phone tower to the person that went missing that is used.

You may ask, “Do I need a satellite dish?” And the answer is, “No.” You can use an antenna – which are cheaper and not unsightly as satellite dishes. So, in short, you are being scammed into buying a satellite dish when you can use a good, tall antenna to do the work.

Introduction

When children go to a dinosaur museum, are the displays they see displays of science or displays of art and science fiction? Are we being deceived and brainwashed at an early age into believing a dinosaur myth? Deep probing questions need to be asked of the entire dinosaur business.

This article will discuss the possibility that there may have been an ongoing effort since the earliest dinosaur “discoveries” to plant, mix and match bones of various animals, such as crocodiles, alligators, iguanas, giraffes, elephants, cattle, kangaroos, ostriches, emus, dolphins, whales, rhinoceroses, etc. to construct and create a new man-made concept prehistoric animal called the dinosaur.

Where bones from existing animals are not satisfactory for deception purposes, plaster substitutes may be manufactured and used. Some material similar or superior to plasticine clay or plaster of Paris would be suitable. Molds may also be employed. A 144-page book titled “Make Your Own Dinosaur Out of Chicken Bones” provides step-by-step instructions complete with detailed drawings and diagrams.

What would be the motivation for such a deceptive endeavor? Obvious motivations include trying to prove evolution, trying to disprove or cast doubt on the Christian Bible and the existence of the Christian God, and trying to disprove the “young-earth theory”. Yes, there are major political and religious ramifications.

The dinosaur concept implies that if God exists, He tinkered with His idea of dinosaurs for awhile, then probably discarded or became tired of this creation and then went on to create man. The presented dinosaur historical timeline suggests an imperfect God who came up with the idea of man as an afterthought, thus demoting the biblical idea that God created man in His own image. Dinosaurs are not mentioned in the Hebrew Bible.

Highly rewarding financial and economic benefits to museums, educational and research organizations, university departments of paleontology, discoverers and owners of dinosaur bones, and the book, television, movie and media industries may cause sufficient motivation for ridiculing of open questioning and for suppression of honest investigation.

Dinosaur Discoveries

Early Dinosaur Discoveries in North America provides revealing information about the first discoveries:

“The class Dinosauria was originally defined by Sir Richard Owen in 1842, in a two hour speech that reportedly held the audience captivated. The original dinosaurs of this new group were Megalosaurus, Iguanodon and Hylaeosaurus. However, each of these animals was known only from fragmentary specimens. It wasn’t until the discoveries of dinosaurs in North America in the mid-19th century that people began to get a clearer picture of what dinosaurs looked like.”

“It is generally accepted that the first discovery of dinosaur remains in North America was made in 1854 by Ferdinand Vandiveer Hayden during his exploration of the upper Missouri River.”

“Near the confluence of the Judith and Missouri Rivers (shown above) Hayden’s party recovered a small collection of isolated teeth which were later described by the Philadelphia palaeontologist Joseph Leidy in 1856, in the Proceedings of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia.”

So, dinosaurs were described in 1842 before the discoveries in 1854 that were required to give a clear picture of what dinosaurs looked like! Were discoveries made or constructed to fit the descriptions?

“Dinosaur skeletons were found for the first time in abundance in the Garden Park area of Colorado and at Como Bluff, Wyoming, in the late 1870s. These specimens initiated the First Great Dinosaur Rush in North America, driven largely by the efforts of a Philadelphia palaeontologist, Edward Drinker Cope (on the left), and Othniel Marsh (on the right), a palaeontologist from Yale University.”

No Curvature Factored in when Building Railroads
