Cause of Sunrise and Sunset
ALTHOUGH the sun is at all times above the earth’s surface, it appears in the morning to ascend from the north-east to the noonday position, and thence to descend and disappear, or set, in the north-west. This phenomenon arises from the operation of a simple and everywhere visible law of perspective. A flock of birds, when passing over a flat or marshy country, always appears to descend is it recedes; and if the flock is extensive, the first bird appears lower or nearer to the horizon than the last, although they are at the same actual altitude above the earth immediately beneath them. When a balloon sails away from an observer, without increasing or decreasing its altitude, it appears to gradually approach the horizon. In a long row of lamps, the second–supposing the observer to stand at the beginning of the series—will appear lower than the first; the third lower than the .second; and so on to the end of the row; the farthest away always appearing the lowest, although each one has the same altitude; and if such a straight line of lamps could be continued far enough, the lights would at length descend, apparently, to the horizon, or to a level with the eye of the observer, as shown in the following diagram, fig. 63.

Let A, B, represent the altitude throughout of a long row of lamps, standing on the horizontal ground E, D; and C, H, the line of sight of an observer at C. The ordinary principles of perspective will cause an apparent rising of the ground E, D, to the eye-line C, H, meeting it at H; and an apparent descent of each subsequent lamp, from A, to H, towards the same eye-line, also meeting at H. The point H, is the horizon, or the true “vanishing point,” at which the last visible lamp, although it has really the altitude D, B, will disappear.
Bearing in mind the above phenomena it will easily be seen how the sun, although always above and parallel to the earth’s surface, must appear to ascend from the morning horizon to the noonday or meridian position; and thence to descend to the evening horizon.

surface of the earth; H, H, the morning and evening horizon; and A, S, B, a portion of the true path of the sun. An observer at 0, looking to the east, will first see the sun in the morning, not at A, its true position, but in its apparent position, H, just emerging from the “vanishing point,” or the morning horizon. At nine o’clock, the sun will have the apparent position, 1, gradually appearing to ascend the line H, 1, S; the point S, being the meridian or noonday position. From S, the sun will be seen to gradually descend the line S, 2, H, until he reaches the horizon, H, and entering the “vanishing point,” disappears, to an observer in England, in the west, beyond the continent of North America, as in the morning he is seen to rise from the direction of Northern Asia. An excellent illustration of this “rising” and “setting” of the sun may be seen in a long tunnel, as shown in diagram, fig. 65. The top of the tunnel,

1, 2, and, the bottom, 3, 4, although really equi-distant throughout the whole length, would, to an observer in the centre, C, appear to approach each other, and converge at the points, H, H; and a lamp, or light of any kind, brought in, and carried along the top, close to the upper surface 1, 2, would, when really going along the line, 1, S, 2, appear to ascend the inclined plane H, S, to the centre, S, and after passing the centre, to descend the plane S, H; and if the tunnel were sufficiently long, the phenomena of sunrise and of sunset would be perfectly imitated.
A very striking illustration of the convergence of the top and bottom, as well as the sides, of a long tunnel, has been observed in that of Mont Cenis. M. de Porville, when in the centre of the tunnel, noticed that the entrance had apparently become so small that the daylight beyond it seemed like a bright star. “Before us, at an apparently prodigious distance, we beheld a small star at the entrance of the gallery. Its vivid light contrasted strangely with the red glare of the lamps. Its brightness increased as the horses dashed on the way. In a short time its proportions were more clearly defined, and its volume increased. The illusion was quickly dispelled as we got over some kilometres. This soft white light is the extremity of the gallery.” 1
We have seen that “sunrise” and “sunset” are phenomena dependent entirely upon the fact that horizontal lines, parallel to each other, appear to approach or converge in the distance. The surface of the earth being horizontal, and the line of sight of the observer and the sun’s path being over and parallel with it, the rising and setting of the moving sun over the immovable earth are simply phenomena arising necessarily from the laws of perspective.

The Enemy Is Prepared for Everything – Including Flat Earthers
The enemy is prepared in all case scenarios in their plans lying to the people. When it comes to the flat earth, they have their plans. They know that one day people will wake up and know the truth, so they have their plans for when this happens. To better know how the enemies of Christ react, you’ve got to think like them. I know, it’s a terrible thought but just do some imagination; pretend you are in a film and your role is to play the bad guy – what will you do?
I thought about playing this role, for, in order to know what to expect, you’ve got to know what your enemy probably will do. So, what will they do when it comes to the flat earth believers?
We already know much what they do, such as:
- being ignored
- being ridiculed
- actually be censored in some way
- defamation of character, etc.
These are the common things that we have all seen and, some of us have experienced. But is there a more clever design that the enemies of truth is using; that is slipping under our collective radar? I believe there is.
We have all heard of The Flat Earth Society and it is not the bastion of truth as it was back in the 1980s and 90s, when the leader of it passed away. Now, they do advocate the flat earth and one great thing they do have on their site are the old flat earth books. To this, we give them credit. However, in some of their posts or in their interviews, they claim that ‘gravity’ is the result of the earth ‘travelling 3 metres a second upward’ that gives us gravity. This is deliberate misleading. There are other such things that they do or say that would make anyone turn away and think they are loonies. This is exactly what the government wants – to have people react this way.
More Insidious Method of Discrediting
Believe it or not, there is a more insidious method of discrediting flat earthers, or to get people ‘turned off’ by the idea that the earth is flat and stationary. Now, without mentioning names (you can figure that out for yourself), there are others that are true flat earth believers and they have put out good articles and videos. The videos are professionally made and better than I can do. But it is PART of their message that it totally wrong. That is ridiculing Christians and making blasphemy statements against Christ.
Now, think of this attack Christians and the teachings of Christ; what this would have on Christians who are learning about the flat earth for the first time. A Christian would come to a flat earth site, starts thinking about it, then he/she comes across an article where they read a blasphemy attack on Christ. What would they do? What would you do? They would get turned off, go back to their other reading and be left with the thought that all flat earthers are non-Christians and simply plain kook’s. When someone else approaches him that is a Christian and believes in the flat earth, they won’t even listen to them. I know if I came across such an attack on Christians, and it was my second or third article that I read on a flat earth site, I know that I wouldn’t have been back to read more. But, by the grace of God that was not the case. In fact, the site I was first on to learn about this was Eric Dubay’s site – a person known for having nothing to do with Christianity. But it was many articles later before I read of anything negative about Christianity.
People in NASA, people who call themselves astronomers, astrophysics or what have you are part of this cover up. They are, for the most part, atheists or agnostics. So, they are quite happy to have people turned off the the flat earth news after being on a website that is suppose to enlighten them.
This technique of mixing lies with truth is effective. You can see videos of conservative Christians, good people, who came across the flat earth news, thought it was rubbish and made a short comment to their congregation.
There are a few flat earth sites, like this one, that shows the harmony of God’s word with the flat earth. It’s time that we get in the forefront of the flat earth believers. Unfortunately, those who are not Christian and mixes lies in with the truth are getting all the followers and support. You wonder how many of these follows have adopted the flat earth truth but dropped their Christian beliefs? What a trade off; what a loss? They know about the true shape of the earth but they’ve lost their Creator, and thus, living in Christ’s Kingdom.
First, and foremost, keep your belief in Christ and the Bible truths along with the flat earth truth, too. After all, the flat earth truth was first mentioned in the Holy Bible.
High Priests of “Science”
Ask Questions to Make Debunkers Think (If That is Possible)
We all know the mass of people who are addicted to the religion of scientism is overwhelming. Those people usually subscribe to all those “science channels” on youtube and worship people like Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Bill Nye (which I think is the absolute worst of them all), Michio Kaku, Richard Dawkins and so on.
People like that (and probably most people anyway) will not listen to any legitimate flat earth scientific proofs. So before you can actually engage them in any kind of debate they are long gone (and probably think you are some kind of a prankster who was attempting to steal their time). This means that even mentioning flat earth will turn them away immediately and they will never question their whole “scientific”world view.
So why not disrupt their science religion and giving them a headache by asking simple questions that they have never really thought of and make them at least go….hm? The key here is to come off really interested in their opinion and make them believe that they might be able to really help you understand their ludicrous ball-earth “science.”
Just hit them with one question at a time and make sure you don’t show your support for the flat earth (because if you do that in any way – conversation probably is over).
Here are some examples:
Begin like this: “Hey ______, I really like your ___work/youtube science channel/blabla/whatever_____. I have question that I hope you could answer me: ……”
1) ….How is it that there are no tides in lakes, ponds, rivers, etc. (not even in a glass of water) and why is it that the moon’s gravity doesn’t seem to have any effect on the gases in our atmosphere?
Are there some kind of winds that follow the moon’s path over the earth? (and people on the side of the low tide might be gasping for air, lol…just kidding)
2) …Can you please explain me how it is possible to see a blood moon (lunar eclipse) at daytime?

3) …I would like to know how is it that the durations of twilight are shorter in the southern hemisphere and longer in the northern hemisphere?

Never could get my head around that. Please someone explain in a simple way so that I understand. Maybe I’m too dumb, but simply turning my toy globe doesn’t help me find the solution. So, please help 😉
4) ….Why does the atmosphere rotate with the earth? I mean the mass below it stays the same no matter of the location, so therefore I just don’t get the “Because of gravity”-answer. In other words, why does the cloud care whether Africa, New Zealand or Antarctica is below it, when there is always the mass of the whole world below it? So why is the atmosphere so “glued to the ground”? How does this work? Could you please explain?
5) ….I noticed that the continents on the globe of google earth (which claims to have a mathematically correct model of the earth) do not match up with the NASA photos of earth from space.

How can google be so wrong? What kind of mistakes are those guys making? I mean, I know that there are all kind of different projections of earth for 2D-maps where the sizes of the continents are all wrong and so on, but with the globe itself this cannot happen, right? *confused*
6) ….Shining light on a spherical object always creates a hot spot, right? So why do we not see such a hot spot on the moon or on any NASA picture from the earth or the other planets?
7) ….When airplanes fly straight, the earth underneath them curves, right? So to keep a constant altitude, do they actually have to descent all the time? I mean, otherwise they would end up higher and higher and eventually leave the atmosphere just by flying straight, right? How much do they have to descent?
8) ….Where exactly is the barrier between the atmosphere and the vacuum of space? How does it work and why is the vacuum of space not powerful enough to suck the atmosphere from the earth?
Has somebody ever tried to build for example a high cylinder where the inside is under vacuum and there is a valve (as an air-inlet) at the bottom? The goal of course would be to measure the pressure on top vs. on the bottom of the cylinder with different amounts of air put into the cylinder via the inlet at the bottom.
Hopefully this will at least get them to try to think for themselves a little bit.
As I don’t have a youtube account (and I do not want to have one), I will not contact those YT channels. But I will try to do it via e-mail to some science websites.

To continue my approach of hitting all those science experts with questions that will lead them to at least think a little bit for themselves, here are some more questions. I hope you guys will come up with new ones as well.

9) …in my everyday experience I feel that there is a big difference between sunrise and sunset. Sunrise to me looks more bright, golden and energetic, whereas sunset feels more quiet and reddish. So they look and feel completely different, although they should be the same right? (Like a film that you play backwards looks the same.)
So what are the factors that play into this perception? Has it to do with temperature? Is it more a psychological thing (hard to imagine, because if you just look at google images you will see the difference there as well)? What’s the reason exactly?
10) ….as we all know, we cannot see a new moon from the earth. At night that’s totally logical of course, but what about daytime? The moon is between the sun and the earth. You can only see it when it’s directly aligned with the sun during a solar eclipse. However you can often see the complete moon at daytime when it is crescent. You mostly see the illuminated part, but you can also see the rest (faint but still visible). Any picture that tells you it is a depiction of a new moon at daylight always has one side brighter than the other – therefore it can only be a crescent moon not a (full) new moon.
Why isn’t it possible to see a faint (full) new moon at daytime (like holding any object between my eyes and any bright enough light source, I can always make out its shape)?
In other words, shouldn’t the light-scattering of the atmosphere not obscure the (bigger) faint part of a crescent moon like it does with a new moon? By the way, you can also see the faint part of a crescent moon at night time. Can someone please explain?

11) ….as we all know the density of CO2 is higher than that of the normal atmosphere (air). Otherwise CO2 fire extinguishers won’t work and if you throw dry ice into water the “steam” would just rise and not fall over the edge of the glass, right?.
So if the concentration of CO2 in the surface area is about 400 ppm of the atmosphere, then how much is it let’s say in 20 km height?
And if this height is the place where most of the heating up of the atmosphere is happening (global warming – reflection of heat back to earth) and the little amount of CO2 up there (should be way way less than 400 ppm) is so potent to heat up the entire planet as it does, then why don’t we just use CO2 to isolate our homes? For example make double glass windows and fill them with pure 100% CO2. Shouldn’t that have a super strong effect in reflecting the heat back into your home? Am I missing something or shouldn’t this work just like it does in the upper atmosphere? ?????
12)…I have learned that heat always flows from hot to cold, never the opposite way. Can somebody please explain why this seems to be different in all those explanations for global warming? How can the heat be reflected at 20 km height where the temperature is much colder than on the relatively hot surface of earth? If it is just because of the reflection of infra-red radiation, then why is the layer of CO2 in the atmosphere not reflecting all the incoming infra-red radiation from the sun back to into space, so it doesn’t get to earth in the first place? In other words, shouldn’t CO2 have a cooling effect instead of heating? Or at least shouldn’t the reflected IR rays from the earth and the sun just cancel each other out?

THE IMPORTANCE OF A CORRECT COSMOGONY
A false cosmogony is leading thousands to infidelity and to death. The infidel says: –

If we, by the mercy of God, have escaped this “vast void of night,” shall we leave others to perish in it? We Zetetics know that the world is not “a planet,” but a plane; and the plane-earth truth knocks the bottom out of the Evolution theory, with its dark and hopeless godlessness. Let us therefore do all we can to save others from unconsciously imbibing the fatal poison of this evolutionary science, a “science falsely so-called.”
Let us warn our children as they go to school. Let us try to aid others by voice or by pen; and by scattering literature, or pamphlets, upon the Plane truth. God, through His servant Moses, began the Bible revelation with a formal account of the Creation of the World. We should begin there. We must come back to this Divine Cosmogony. He instituted the Sabbath as its weekly memorial; but both, alas! have alike been forgotten. We must come back to first principles. The world ere long will be divided into two camps, and we shall have to take our place in one or the other. Zetetics, or Planists, will be last to give up their faith in the Divine inspiration of the Holy Bible. True Zetetics will never give it up. But the last battle of Inspiration will have to be fought on these lines. Real Facts will help us; Nature will help us; and God will help us. The down-grade critics, the scientists, the infidels, and the devil will oppose. They all attack the Cosmogony of Genesis, and only the Christian Zetetic can stand intelligently to it. Let us therefore buckle on our armour, and quit ourselves like men and Christians; and so we shall save ourselves, and our children, from this apostate and untoward generation. “If God be for us, who can be against us”? 53 – Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth, declare if thou hast understanding. – Job 38:1,4. Our modern astronomers would here contend there are none, only an imaginary axis. What folly to be wiser than God – and think they could teach God something.
54 – Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? Or who laid the corner stone thereof? Whereupon where the sockets made to sink. – Job 38:6. Job did not know, and God did not then reveal it.
55 – They know not, neither will they understand: they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. – Psalms 82:5; see also Isa. 27:11; Psalms 82:5

63 – The Sun is always declared the perpetual traveller – never the Earth – by the mighty Creator Himself, and the wisest man that ever lived, Solomon. The sun also ariseth and the sun goeth down and hasteth to his place where he arose – Eccl. 1:5 (R.V.) Is there a wiser man than Solomon among modern astronomers?
64 – And God said let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, to divide between day and night, so as to shine upon the earth. – Gen. 1:14. The heavenly bodies ae then entirely subservient to the earth, and the perpetual servants of the earth. Who would think of making the servant 1230 times larger than the master; or the sailor boy 1230 times more important than the admiral? As the astronomers make Jupiter 1230 times bigger than the earth. What insanity!
65 – And let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years – Gen. 1:14. Not let it, the earth, be for seasons, by useless revolving around the sun; but let them. The earth is entirely passive as regards the seasons, as passive as a drum; it has no more to do with their regulation than the Queen has to do with regulating the affairs of the Court of Russia. Everything in the economy of nature is based upon the plan of philosophical necessity, and there is not the slightest necessity for the earth’s pathway to regulate seasons, since the sun’s path through the twelve signs of the Zodiac does it all. This is acknowledge by God Himself to Job.
66 – Therefore, we read of the precious fruits brought forth by the sun – not by the earth, which is entirely helpless in the matter – no sun, no fruit – Deut. 33:14
67 – Joshua kenw that the sun was the traveller as well as Moon therefore on a specially important occasion, for the service of Jehovah, he commands the sun to stand still: “Sun, stand still upon Gideon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.” And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. – Joshua 10:12 The perpetual controversies there has been in Christendom on this one event is truly appalling. Simply because the fixed laws of nature have been misrepresented by modern astronomy, some going so far as to say, in the Portsmouth Town Hall, that the light was continued without the sun. Who ever heard of the light of a whole day being supplied without the presence of the sun? What subterfuges do the difficulties of unbelief leave people to adopt. The difficulties of unbelief are always greater than those of faith. Dr. Adam Clark regretted that he had commenced his commentary, and puzzled his brain for a whole fortnight over it’ but Dr. Gill, a great predecessor of the Rev. Charles Spurgeon, took a wiser course for his inimitable commentary, and wrote: “It was a most wonderful and surprising phenomena to see both luminaries standing still in the midst of heaven. How this is to be reconciled with the Copernican system, or that with this, I shall not enquire.” Quite right, Dr. Gill. Lux himself, would stand on firmer ground if he followed Dr. Gill, and believed Joshua before the astronomers.
68 – David was a bright astronomer, with the mind, inclination, and opportunity for studying the heavenly bodies, while watching over his flocks by night, and his 19th Psalm gives results – “The heaven declares the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handy work. There is no speech, nor language; their voice cannot be heard. In them hath he set a tabernacle, a tent for the sun. which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof” Then David compares it to the infallible Word of the Lord. – Psalms 19 (R.V.)
69 – Deborah, the prophetess, prayed with the same understanding: “So let all thine enemies perish, O Jehovah: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. – Judges 5:31
70 – “To him that made the sun to rule the day; for his mercy endureth for ever.” – Pslams136:7,8. Not the earth t rule the day, which makes no interference with the sun in any way whatever!
71 – David held his views of astronomy to the end of his lfe, and on his dying bed declared, “The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me: one that ruleth o’er men righteously, that ruleth in the fear of God, he shall be as the light of the morning when the sun riseth. A morning without clouds, e.e., in the times of the restoration of all things which God hath spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.” – Acts 3:21. 2 Samuel 23:3,4.
72 – So Isaiah prophesies that when the nations of the earth which are saved, are in their triumphant state in the new creation, when the new Jerusalem shall be a praise on the earth, the old Jerusalem being now done with for ever; They sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the Jehovah shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended. They people also shall be all righteous; they shall inherit the earth for ever. The Jehovah will hasten it in Christ’s time.” Isaiah 60:20
73 – God declared by Amos that He would cause the sun to go down at noon, and so darken the earth in the clear day. – Amos 8:9.
74 – Habakuk in prophesying concerning the end of all things, says: “The sun and moon stood still in their habitation.” – Hab 3
75 – Christ Himself declared the sun to be the traveller, in His sermon on the mount – who dares to contradict Him, at their cost – “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” – Matt. 5:45.

26 – The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall and not rise again. – Isa 24:20 That is, at the second advent, but not till then will it reel and shake.
27 – Thus saith the Jehovah, the heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool. – Isa 66:1 Who ever heard of a footstool always rolling away. The earth will be christ’s everlasting footstool. Praise His name.
28 – At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations – Jer. 50:46 and 49:21. Moved at the end; but not till then. Through Rome shall come the end of the times.
29 – They are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth. – Zech 4:10. Not round and underneath it, but through it at one time.
30 – And they answered the angel of the Lord that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked to and fro through the earth, and behold all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest. – Zech 1:11. A wonder they never saw it revolve on its axis.

33 – And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, as the rebuking of the Lord, at the blast of the breath of His nostrils; He sent from above, He took me; He drew me to Himself out of many waters. – II Sam. 22:16,17. 34 – Thou wentest forth for the salvation of They People; for the salvation of Thine annointed. Thou woundest the head out of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. – Heb. 3:13. Driving out satan as the god of this world, and preparing everything for Himself, in the inhabited earth to come.
35 – Fear before Him, all the earth; the world also shall be stable that it be not moved. – I Chron. 16:30. A stable earth, not moved, is very different to the wobbling merry-go-round of the astronomers.
36 – The world also is established that it cannot be moved. They throne is established of old, Thou art from everlasting. – Psalm 43:1,2. Cannot be moved is a strong statement. Who is to cancel it? See also Psalm 45:10, which refers to the future.
37 – The devil showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them. – Matt. 4:8
38 – Of old has Thou laid the foundations of the earth; and the heavens are the work of Thy hands. Psalm 52:25. This is Daniel’s psalm, who was doubtless a wise astronomer, and had his wisdom from above.
39 – Mine had also hath laid the foundations of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them they stand up together. Isa. 48:13. Not revolve together.
40 – The burden of the word of the Lord which layeth the foundation of the earth, and formed the spirit of man within him. – Zech. 12:1

Telling My Step-granddaughter About the Flat Earth
Teaching the flat earth via mathematics
My step-daughter and her daughter came over for a visit. My step-granddaughter is 13 years old and it was 9 years since I had last seen her. Since I like to teach I thought I’d have a little lesson for her. Isabel told me that she likes math, so I thought it would be good to introduce the formula that astronomers use to determine the declination of the earth. You all know the formula – 8 inches times the distance squared.
As I wrote this down and explained it to her, I asked her if she knows how to square the distance. She did. I had her do some multiplication and division. I gave her her first math problem – which she got right. Then I went on to say that we are told that you cannot see anyone that is 6 miles away. Yet, in reality we can see someone 6 miles away – even though you have to use a telescope. I explained that the formula is right and this is what globe earth believers tell us.
I like to stir curiosity into my teaching; as humans we are strongly motivated to learn more when this is done. I told to her, “Isabel, would like to know a math problem that the teacher will not be able to solve?”
“Yes,” was her response.
I built up the curiosity more by saying, “How would you like to be able to solve this problem that your teacher would not be able to? And, how would you like to look like a hero?”
Again, Isabel said, “Yes!”
After showing the math and explaining to her that it would be impossible to see a person 6 miles away because of the curve in the earth. Yet, we are able to do so. She could not figure this out. Later, she thought it was because the person is too small and the earth too big to do this.
I said, “The only answer can be is that the earth is not a globe?
She didn’t believe this, so I continued by asking her a couple of questions. “Can you put water on a ball?”
She said, “No.”
“Can you put water on the side of anything and have it remain there?”
Again, Isabel said, “No.”
“So, how can we expect water to stay on a huge ball – the earth – if the earth is round?”
She thought about this for a moment and said, “It’s gravity,” thinking she had the answer.
I said, “If it’s gravity, why doesn’t it keep water on a ball? Why doesn’t it keep water on a big ball. Why doesn’t it keep water on a heavy ball?”
At this point, she had to think about this.
So, I bought up other questions that she might ask later on; then I answered those questions. I brought up the sun and we see it round and it moves and the moon – the same thing. I then explained how it was the sun and moon that was moving and not the earth.
Then Isabel brought up the boat and how it goes over the curve. I said that if you watch it ‘disappear’ you can see it again with a telescope and that we all know that a telescope cannot see though things. So, this proves that the earth is flat.
Slowly but surely she learned of the flat earth. Well, since the time I told her this, we had a party going in the house – sort of a family reunion – where there were 12 people.
All of this took place Wednesday, 27 April, 2016. (Yesterday, at the time of this Post.)
After our little lesson, she took the paper that I was writing on, upstairs. Then she came down, went out side all excited to tell her mother, “Mum, do you know that the earth is flat?!” she exclaimed in her little voice. Her uncle was there, heard it and laughed. It was about a minute later when I came out and Isabel was still talking to him when Steve said to me, “So, you think the earth is flat?” I said, “I just wanted to show her that the maths point this out.” This stop his laughing and he just thought that is was some kind of game I played.
A minute later when we were away from the naysayers, I said to Isabel, “I had no idea that you were going to tell others. You have to keep this to yourself as most people do not believe this.”
I had not thought about this when I was teaching Isabel the math and should have said something at that time. Well, no harm done, as her mother and uncle thought this was a parlour trick. My wife knows that the earth is flat, so there IS agreement between her and me.
I had to inform my little step-granddaughter that she has to learn more about this before she brings it up; just give people a link to a good video and let them decided. At her young and tender age she should not bring this up in school, as the kids would laugh as well as the teacher. They will not take the time to study it and, quite frankly, people are too brainwashed. People, young and old, want to be part of a crowd and don’t want to be booted out because of their beliefs.
Some may say, “You should not have said anything to a 13 year old; maybe if she was older, OK.” I disagree with that. That is like saying, “You should not tell your child about Jesus Christ and the Old Testament stories as they would be laughed at. We all know that most people are not Christians at school and Christians seem to be keeping silent now. Yet, we Christians know that we should tell our children about the Bible. We know that they will get flack for their beliefs but we tell them anyway. Many children laugh at others about the Christian beliefs but that is just the chance they have to take. Naturally, we prepare them and say if they don’t want to listen, then don’t force it on them. The verbal attacks and snickers eventually stop and the kids play together again.
I hope that the above will give you some ideas of how to introduce the flat earth children. Children have a natural curiosity and they want to learn. So, we should introduce that to our teaching. When they learn the truth about this, they will – hopefully – learn other Bible truths. Thus, they are better prepared for life ahead. Truth helps people in life: they know what is right and wrong, who to trust, how to act, and how to live a good life.
