What The Bible Says About Liars
The Bible has much to say about liars. If you are in the Christian/Patriotic movement, you probably had your share of liars, too. While not everyone who is opposed to us are liars, some of them are. They know who they are. Well, here is a little study on the words “liar” and “lying.”
Of course, there are other words used in the Bible that is a synonium to liar.
The people that we most commonly face who are liars are: politicians, other government employees, teachers and reporters to name a few. Anyhow, I thought these collection of verses would be interesting to you.
Liar
And if it be not so now, who will make me a liar, and make my speech nothing worth? (Job 24:25)
A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue. (Pro 17:4)
The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. (Pro 19:22)
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. (Pro 30:6)
Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and as waters that fail? (Jer 15:18)
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (Joh 8:44)
Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. (Joh 8:55)
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged. (Rom 3:4)
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. (1Jn 1:10)
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (1Jn 2:4)
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. (1Jn 2:22)
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? (1Jn 4:20)
He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. (1Jn 5:10)
Lying
And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. (1Ki 22:22)
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil concerning thee. (1Ki 22:23)
And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so. (2Ch 18:21)
Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee. (2Ch 18:22)
I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD. (Psa 31:6)
Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous. (Psa 31:18)
Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah. (Psa 52:3)
For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak. (Psa 59:12)
For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. (Psa 109:2)
Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously. (Psa 119:29)
I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love. (Psa 119:163)
Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue. (Psa 120:2)
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, (Pro 6:17)
He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool. (Pro 10:18)
The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment. (Pro 12:19)
Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight. (Pro 12:22)
A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. (Pro 13:5)
Excellent speech becometh not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince. (Pro 17:7)
The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death. (Pro 21:6)
A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin. (Pro 26:28)
That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: (Isa 30:9)
The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right. (Isa 32:7)
In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. (Isa 59:13)
Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these. (Jer 7:4)
Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. (Jer 7:8)
Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours’ wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD. (Jer 29:23)
He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places. (Lam 3:10)
They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word. (Eze 13:6)
