Heathen Philosophies Followed by Christians
Christians refuse to hear God’s word; they turn their backs to the truth. This is one problem that true Christians face – is getting follow Christians to follow Him. It did not start in the current era but in ancient Israel.
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. (Jer 6:16)
Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. (Jer 6:17)
The word “trumpet” here means God’s laws. This is how it is today – as it was in Jeremiah day.
Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them. (Jer 6:18)
Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it. (Jer 6:19)
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jer 17:9)
We often here of “the basic goodness of man” or that we must “follow our heart” or other such words that gives man credit for goodness. But we are told differently from the above verses.
If you have read any books from what is commonly known as “spiritual book shops” you’ll find many books that talk about how we can be good on our own, even how to be a god (really sick!). These books are also found in just about every book shop on the street and even in Christian book stores. Now, you find this on Amazon and in the Kindle collection. Well, I want to point out one book that perhaps started it off in America and that book is titled The Prophet, which was published in America in 1940. at that time the sales in America was 250,000 and it was already in 20 languages of the world!
You can see this book (really a booklet) by Clicking Here. The book that you see here is just text but the original has nudity drawings.
Before I go on with this book let me get back to my main thought. What do men in government usually do when they try to solve a problem? What do we do in our educational system? What do we do in business? We say something like, “Let’s get together and talk on such-and-such. Let’s form a committee and talk about what’s in our thoughts and our hearts.”
Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? (Mat 15:17)
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. (Mat 15:18)
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: (Mat 15:19)
This booklet called, The Prophet, says just the opposite of what the Bible says. This goes for just about every book on the New Age bookshelf. This book is what provided much of the fuel for the hippy culture in the 1970s. Today, you have other books that have carried on the Eastern religious beliefs.
One book that has been around for years but is making a comeback (unfortunately) is A Course in Miracles. Another book – more recent – is titled The Shack. This is being pushed by Oprah Wimfry.
We are told in The Prophet, which was originally published before WWII, “Love is all you need. Everything is love, you must love all.” Sound familiar? It should be and it’s been repeated in many books since then.
When you read this book (get it at the above link), you’ll notice a mystic quality to it; it’s almost hypnotic. You don’t want to read too much of it as it has trance-like qualities – it’s that bad.
You’ll see different sections in this book that basically tells you how to live your life. Some of the writing is poetic and it’s filled with contradiction. It goes on to say, give your love to your children but don’t give them your thoughts – they have their own thoughts.
The section on Crime and Punishment is revealing. When you read it, it’s putting the blame on the victim, too, and that we are part responsible for what happens to us. In short, it’s suggestive that we should not punish the criminal. Well, when a “spiritualist” person gets attacked in the street by a Muslim, they might think twice before complaining.
Reading recent news accounts about Muslims attacking White women, you can see how this philosophy of the victim at blame as much as the criminal. I just read how the cops in Rotherham, England is turning a blind eye to the gang rape accounts that is happening in that city. I’ve also read about these Muslim rapists are just simply let go. Of course, this type of “judgement” has been happening for decades now. Anyhow, back on the main topic…
What came to mind as I was writing this was the Beatles song of the hippy era titled “All You Need Is Love.”
We read above, “have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it” (Jer 6:19) The problem that Jeremiah had was that the people did not listen to God’s words (His laws) but rejected it. We know that this is a fact today – that we don’t follow God’s laws and that they are rejected. So, we get evil that proceeds from man’s heart.
You have millions of Christians who don’t want God’s laws but complain about the Muslim immigrants (and others) that are coming in; they want the politicians to do something. They also complain about other things, such as taxes, crime and medical costs. They look for a candidate that is against all of this. BUT neither the people nor the person running for President (or any other office) don’t want to have God’s Laws, Statues and Judgements. Well, I can tell you that the people will get more of what they don’t want because they also don’t want God’s laws.
One thing you can bank on come this election time, that no matter who wins, if God’s laws are to be rejected, we will not see any improvement – mark my words on that.
And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God? (Jer 16:10)
Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law; (Jer 16:11)
The problem is that the people don’t recognise their inequity; they don’t see anything that is wrong. You can go up to the average person – Christian or non-Christian – and ask what is wrong. They will agree that we have problems with crime, child molestation, wars, etc. But at the same time they don’t want to have God’s laws as the laws of the land. Well, that is precisely why we have these problems as we have read previously.
It’s sad but you hear of the problems that America has, that Europe has. But you don’t hear the big alternative media websites say a peep about saying we have to burn the books that corrupts the minds of our children. Oh, no, they believe in “freedom of the press.” I don’t want to be too hard on them but I want them to come to the realization of what God Almighty says.
In other words, many Patriots say they want some of the bad things that they have enjoyed; they don’t want laws that would be considered “politically incorrect” such as homosexuality should be made illegal! YET they want other things such as low crime, full employment, etc. But God said to worship Him and follow His laws. Yet, you have people – patriots and the average Joe – say they want “freedom of religion.” You can’t have both ways and history has proven that we have not had it both ways.
And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city? (Jer 22:8)
Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them. (Jer 22:9)
This is our problem – because we have forsaken our God and worshipped other gods. How do we worship other gods? People say, “I don’t see other gods being worshipped?” While we don’t see a little carved stone or metal statute; and while we don’t see a formal religion, it is still another god that the average person worships. It comes in the form of “what they believe in.” What you believe in really becomes your god. Look how many people worship at the “feet” of the homosexual community; look at how many people worship at the feet of bankers who charge interest. These are the modern day gods! I could give you more examples but these two should do.
For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them; (Isa 59:12)
People know what they have done wrong but they don’t want to do what really needs to be done; they never do what they know should really be done; they want to be “politically correct.”
Reading about Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel they told the people the laws they have broken and that they need to repent (which means to turn back). They preach a warning before they are taken into captivity or enslaved in some way. In every case when you read in the OT of the Prophets talking to the people and warning them it’s because they have broken God’s laws.
Speaking about those who call themselves Christians, the real sad thing is that they think they are worshipping God because they go to church; they pray to God but they get no answer and they wonder why. Could it just possible be what they are taught in the churches, what is taught in the books that the pastors recommend that they read are not Christian? Such books, which you’ll find in many Christian book stores, include such books as The Prophet, A Course in Miracles, The Shack, just to name a few. Then there are the sermons by the preachers that are clearly contrary to Scripture.
God’s arm is not shorten that He cannot save, His ear is not dull that He cannot hear, it’s because of our disobedience is why He doesn’t answer. It’s because of our disobedience is why we get even more problems.
The Good News
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. (Isa 43:1)
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. (Isa 43:2)
For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee. (Isa 43:3)
I encourage you to read all of Isa. 43.
The above verses is only understood if you know who are the physical descendents of ancient Israel. If we were not Israel, if we were not called by His name (Christians) we would have been destroyed as a people a long time ago.
I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; (Isa 43:6)
This is talking about regathered Israel.
Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: (Jer 9:23)
But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. (Jer 9:24)
