  1. KeepTheFire says:

The authors of the Bible did not understand much of anything about cosmology.
The fact that the moon is not a light at all demonstrates how little they understood about heavenly bodies.

The moon is a dead orbiting satellite that generates none of its own light (the fact that we can see craters on the moon should confirm this for most intelligent people). It merely reflects the sun’s light. The phases of the moon prove this fact. If it were its own light source, it would not be a moon… it would be a star.
    Now, to answer your question:
Yes, stars are massive burning nuclear reactors that are millions and billions of miles away, not just twinkling lights in the Firmament. There IS NO Firmament. We confirmed that when we went into space. We have demonstrate that the moon is roughly 1.2 light seconds away, both with the time delay of radio chatter from the Apollo era and with the return time of modern lasers bouncing off the reflectors we left on the moon.
We know the sun is approximately 8 light minutes away from us.

We know that life on Earth, whether plant or animal, could not exist without the sun… and the waters of ‘the Deep’ would be one big salty glacier with no sun to warm it. Also, where the heck did all the light on days 1-3 come from without the sun, moon, and other stars?

The Creation account in Genesis is as wrong as can be, and does nothing but serve as a comedy of embarrassment for any literal-minded Christian or Jew.
