America Needs a Christian Government
Weekly Sermon, 22 October, 2023
By Pastor Sheldon Emry
America needs a Christian government and that the country has moved away from Christian principles in government. The authors believe that the nation was established with Christians primarily coming over to this North American continent, but over time, the country has gotten further and further from Christian principles in government. They argue that America either has a government primarily of atheists or by people who simply do not know the Word of God. The authors suggest that Christians have a responsibility to spread the literature and the truth of God’s word, from the highest offices in the land to a neighbor next door. They believe that America will never receive Christian government except from God’s Word, and that there is no other source.
Pastor Ermy also provides examples to support the argument that America has moved away from Christian principles in government. He mentions, as an example, that government housing projects are being built in South Carolina without regard for God’s authority, and that this is happening because many members of Congress do not know the Word of God or are motivated by greed. They argue that Christians can work towards establishing a Christian government by engaging with their elected representatives and sharing their views on the importance of Christian principles in government.
